Saturday: Race Time!

A few hours of sleep, and Genri felt completely re-energized! Everybody else was still sleeping, so he quietly donned his lovely Taikoubou outfit and went outside. He caught a lot of great pics wandering around. He also decided to drop by the cosplay panel. All the chairs were taken, but Al and Nando, his friends from Cali, were in the back. The panel itself was ok, with 3 cosplay "experts" talking about costume making tips, but none of them had huge props or weapons! About an hour later, it was time to check out the import car show!

Obviously there weren't that many, but they all seemed to be Civics. He noted how they seemed to be missing a Volkswagen Beetle, an essential part to any racing car lineup. Soon, Genri was starting to feel hungry. He ran into Carl, who was feeling the same. What better opportunity to go to Mitsuwa, the local Japanese plaza nearby, in costume! It was an interesting feeling for Genri to have EVERYBODY in the plaza to be staring at him as he calmly walked up to the noodle shop as Taikoubou.

Equipping himself with a bottle of water, they went back to the con. Genri took this opportunity to take pictures of him as Taikoubou on the DDR machine! He got a tad carried away though, and as he got off the machine, he noticed the knee portion of his pants were stained red. Oh great, just what the skit needed, a bleeding knee. By this time, it was about 4:00, which was the time he wanted everybody back in the room for skit practice. Genri went back, cleaned up himself and his knee, and transformed into Serge! About an hour later, everybody was confident that they knew their parts, and at 6:00, it was time to line up for the masquerade! Everybody marched off, confident that they were totally prepared...

...until Genri realized he forgot about Kinki, the member of their skit that was stuck in the dealer's room. Quickly running and kidnapping her, he brought her back to the room to change, and ran back to the Pavilion tent they were keeping all the cosplayers. And so began the cold, long wait. It was about 60 degrees (yes, 60 degrees in Chicago in May is NORMAL), and there was much shivering. With all said and done, the masquerade started approximately 8:30ish. Bring it on!!!
